Altendorf Group honored for Hand Guard system

The Altendorf Group arrives at AWFS with a World Technology Leadership Award for its Hand Guard safety system for sliding tables saws.

According to Altendorf, the early-recognition system incorporates a pair of cameras that the company says can bring a 400 mm saw blade spinning at about 5,000 rpm to a standstill in a fraction of a second if the operator’s fingers advance too close to the blade. Downtime is eliminated because the saw can resume work immediately after an incident occurs.

“Hand Guard is an important pillar in Altendorf’s commitment to safety and innovation,” the company said in a press release. “The Altendorf Group will continue its efforts to make working with wood and other materials safer and more efficient for professionals around the world.”
